PORTLANDER

The Guitar That Defined Veritas

Born from passion and built for players, the Portlander is the heartbeat of Veritas Custom Guitars. Inspired by the Double Cut Portlander, the first Veritas model ever created, it was the Portlander that truly took off—setting the standard for everything we build today.

Rooted in the Pacific Northwest, its name is a nod to Portland, OR, just across the river from where Veritas was founded in Vancouver, WA. We carry that spirit forward—bold, independent, and built to perform at the highest level.

More than just a guitar, the Portlander is a sonic powerhouse. Designed for ultimate versatility, it delivers everything from gritty rock tones to searing blues leads, smooth jazz chords to country twang, and even the soaring soundscapes of worship music. No matter your style, the Portlander delivers—every time, in any setting.

This is the guitar that put us on the map. And it’s ready to take your sound wherever you want to go.

A GUITAR AS INSPIRING AS IT LOOKS

Avalible As A Thinline

A Thinline guitar offers the resonance of a hollow body with the stability of a solid body. Our Portlander Thinline features a chambered design, hollowed on both sides while keeping a solid center strip for sustain and structural integrity. This design enhances warmth, reduces weight, and adds a natural acoustic-like response while maintaining the punch and clarity of a solid-body guitar. Perfect for players who want a more resonant, lightweight feel without sacrificing tone or versatility.

Pocketed Frets

We take fretwork to the next level with our pocketed frets—a meticulous process that enhances both the look and feel of every guitar we build.

Unlike traditional fret slots that run through the entire fretboard, we cut each slot to the exact depth and size, stopping precisely before the fret ends. This allows us to trim back the fret tangs, eliminating exposed edges and creating a seamless, clean aesthetic. The result? A smoother, more comfortable feel, with no rough ends to catch your hand as you play.

Pocketed frets aren’t just about looks—they’re about precision, durability, and craftsmanship. It’s one more way we ensure that every Veritas guitar plays as flawlessly as it sounds.

Hand-Rubbed Finish

At Veritas Custom Guitars, we believe a finish should feel as good as it looks. Our hand-rubbed finish delivers a buttery-smooth, non-sticky feel, giving your guitar a natural, broken-in touch right out of the box.

Unlike thick, plasticky finishes that can get sticky or slow you down, our hand-rubbed approach enhances the wood’s natural resonance while providing a comfortable, effortless playing experience. Plus, it’s incredibly easy to maintain—if it ever gets worn or scratched, just lightly sand and reapply, and your guitar is as good as new.

Built to be played. Designed to last.

Authentic Aging, Timeless Vibe

At Veritas Custom Guitars, we don’t just build guitars—we give them soul. Our aging process is designed to capture the feel, look, and character of a well-loved instrument that has seen years of play.

Using nitrocellulose lacquer, we carefully age each guitar to create natural checking, where the finish develops fine cracks just like vintage guitars that have aged over decades. We go beyond just surface wear—our process includes subtle wear-throughs, hand-worn edges, and just the right amount of patina to make each guitar look and feel like an old friend the moment you pick it up.

Whether you want light aging for a broken-in feel or a fully road worn warrior, our aging techniques bring history and personality to your instrument—without sacrificing playability or tone. Each aged Veritas guitar tells a story. Now it’s ready to tell yours.

Faux Binding

Faux binding is a technique that creates the look of traditional wood binding without adding separate binding material. We achieve this by carefully taping off and scraping the edges of the top of the guitar, exposing the natural wood beneath the finish. This gives the illusion of real binding while maintaining a seamless feel.

While faux binding adds a clean, high-end look, it’s not recommended for all wood types. Some woods don’t always work well with the finish.

Pro Set Neck

The ProSet Neck is set into the body for better tone and playability. We shape the body and neck heel to remove excess bulk, giving you effortless access to the highest frets. This means smoother lead playing without a bulky heel getting in the way.

Beyond comfort, the ProSet Neck enhances resonance and sustain, creating a more dynamic and responsive instrument.

BARITONE CONFIGURATION

We offer this model in a baritone configuration with a 27.125” scale length, delivering deep, powerful lows with excellent clarity and articulation. Set up with 14-68 gauge strings in standard baritone tuning (B to b), this guitar maintains tight string tension for a balanced feel while allowing for massive, resonant low-end response.

Designed to handle extended-range playing effortlessly, it retains definition in both clean and high-gain settings. Whether you're laying down heavy riffs, intricate chord voicings, or ambient soundscapes, this baritone offers exceptional sustain, tuning stability, and dynamic range.
